In a meeting with French President Jaques Chirac, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Wednesday that his Convergence Plan can’t be avoided or stopped. In an interview with reporters, Olmert said that France does not doubt his plan. Olmert explained that there was an agreement with Chirac to make an effort to renew negotiations with the Palestinians, but made it clear that his plan will be applied even they do not come to an agreement. Olmert also said that he will never concede concerning Israel’s sovereignty over the Temple Mount. In an opening meeting, Chirac praised former prime minister Ariel Sharon efforts, “he was one of the great combatants of anti-Semitism in the world.” Chirac also said, “it’s time to establish peace in the Middle East, peace is the basis for a two-state solution, to live alongside each other in peace and security.”
