Qassam lands in Sderot school

Sunday, June 18, 2006 |  by Staff Writer

After a relatively quiet weekend, the Red Dawn alert systems were once again heard in the southern Negev town of Sderot as a Qassam rocket hit a school, smashing windows. No injuries were reported, but the power supply was heavily damaged in the area. While Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire, Islamic Jihad does not consider itself obligated to the same rules, as it will continue launching rockets into Israel. Sderot residents have been holding a hunger strike in front of Defense Minister Amir Peretz’s home, pleading with him to send ground forces into the Gaza Strip to put an end to the misery in their town.
