Hamas asks for probe

Hamas has called on the Palestinian Legislative Council to investigate the transfer of about 1,000 weapons to those loyal to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas charging that he was attempting to trigger a civil war among the Palestinians. Hamas also accused Arab countries of collaborating with Fatah. Meanwhile under the command of Mohammed Dahlan and the Preventive Security Forces in the Gaza Strip, Fatah has recruited over 4,000 young Palestinians to its ranks, anticipating a potential confrontation with Hamas. Nearly 2,500 men have volunteered for Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade and al-Asifa in southern Gaza in the event that a civil war would erupt. Nearly 1,500 men have already gone through basic training.
