Five months after the Palestinian parliamentary elections, the power of Hamas is in serious decline and the gap between Fatah and Hamas has narrowed drastically. According to a recent poll, if new elections were held today, Fatah and Hamas would both receive 39 percent of the vote and while other parties 9 percent. Thirteen percent of those polled were undecided.

Three months ago, the gap stood at 8 percent in favor of Hamas: 47 percent to Fatah’s 39 percent. These poll was conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey in the West Bank and Gaza Strip between June 15 to 18.
