Israeli missile kills two

Tragic mistake: Two Palestinians were killed and thirteen of their family members, including four children, were injured after an Israeli missile hit their house in Khan-Younis in the Gaza Strip. Security sources said that the missile targeted a civilian car that was passing near the house, but it missed the car and slammed into the house.

The attack comes a day after three children were killed in an Israeli air raid in Gaza.

A statement from the office of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas strongly condemned the killings. "This new Israeli crime against our people comes while great efforts are exerted to preserve the truce and to prevent deterioration of the situation," Abbas said. The statement called on the international community, specifically the Quartet, for “holding responsibility of stopping the ascending Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."

An Israeli Air Force officer said that an initial investigation revealed that, "one of the two missiles that was fired toward a vehicle hit a building dozens of meters away from the target. It is possible that it was either a mistake in operations or the missile malfunctioned".
