Vice Premier Shimon Peres met with Jordan’s King Abdullah in Petra, Jordan to discuss creating projects that will boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

The projects include: The establishment of an international airport in Aqaba serving the two countries. The airport in Eilat will close and hotels would be built in its place; it also includes repairing a water canal, which transports water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea preventing it from drying up.

Peres told Abdullah that Hamas has failed and is unable to control the Palestinian Authority government. Abdullah reaffirmed his position, stating that Jordan supports negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, but is against unilateral steps.
