Intelligence information led troops to a Palestinian would-be suicide bomber on Wednesday morning as he entered the Barkan industrial zone near Ariel. The Palestinian was caught with an explosives belt strapped to his waist and ready for use. He was apprehended before he could detonate the explosives. According to the intelligence information the attack was to be carried out in the heart of the country.

Israel was on high alert in the Sharon and Samaria regions and police had deployed in large numbers throughout the area, with roadblocks being set up on highways. The high alert was cancelled at about 10 a.m.
