Demonstrations for the release of abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit will take place today opposite Syrian embassies throughout the world.
The Jewish Agency has organized the demonstrations and participants include foreign parliamentarians, friends of Israel and Jewish community delegates. Among the embassies where demonstrations will take place are Washington D.C., Ottawa, and the UN.
A delegation of British parliament members will attempt to present to the Syrian ambassador in London a petition for the release of the soldier. The Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Zeev Bielski, said that Israel holds Syria responsible for the fate of the soldier, Gilad Shalit.
