Convergence will include 30,000 settlers

Knesset Member Otniel Schneller said that the convergence plan would include evacuating 30,000 settlers and not 70,000 from Judea and Samaria, which was assumed in the beginning.

Schneller sketched out a map of settlement blocks in private talks with settlement leaders, which was spoken about at the Reut Institute conference in Herzliya entitled "Between Disengagement and Realignment,” on the subject of withdrawal.

Schneller also said that the implementation of the program will continue for at least three years and the Israeli army will not be involved in the evacuation of residents.

“The goal of the government is to come to a word with the settlers to evacuate at will,” Schneller said of residents that live in the settlements.

Before the evacuation, new settlements will be created for them and only then will the operation take place.
