In the midst of fighting on both southern and northern fronts, Israeli police caught a would-be suicide bomber in the nation’s capital intending to carry out an attack in Jerusalem.

A suicide bombing in downtown Jerusalem was thwarted when the 25-year-old Palestinian was caught carrying a bomb in a bag on his way to city center. The suspect was stopped by police near the Old City for a routine security check this morning.

Apparently, the bomber was overheard asking pedestrians for directions to Jaffa Road and if police and military personnel would be there.

The man was arrested after police found an estimated five kilograms of explosives in his bag.
