Vice Premier Shimon Peres called on the Jewish world to join in the development of the Negev and the Galilee in the midst of Israel’s pending crisis.
“Now is the time for Jews of the Diaspora to mobilize and for the State of Israel to extensively develop the north and areas in the south. This is the Israeli answer to the massive attacks of the enemy against our citizens,” Peres said.
A Jewish organization in Britain informed Peres on Monday that it is committed to developing a college in the northern regions of Kiryat Shmona and Tel Hai in the wake of Katyushas falling in the region.
In a letter to Peres, Mike Davis, head of the campaign, expressed the organization’s goal for “solidarity with the Galilee” as it intends to create educational toys for children in shelters. They also hope to partially finance summer camps for children in the Galilee and surrounding areas.
