IDF ground forces, Hizballah exchange fire

In a heavy exchange of fire, Israeli ground troops clashed with Hizballah terrorists at Israel’s northern border near Moshav Avivim, just north of Safed this afternoon.

Additional tanks and ambulances have been called to the scene in the midst of the intense fighting in which one terrorist was killed. The IDF has plans to destroy nearly 20 Hizballah posts along Israel’s northern border.

Meanwhile, Hizballah continued to fire Katyushas into Israeli territory where this afternoon alone more than 70 rockets pounded the areas of Haifa, Tiberias, Carmiel, Galilee and Acre. One person was wounded in Nahariya and others were treated for shock. A handful of rockets landed in Safed, where four were wounded from shrapnel and one remains in critical condition.

Brush fires have broken out in open fields from the constant rockets that continue to rain down on Israel’s northern towns. Residents have been instructed to remain indoors and in bomb shelters (see photo inside shelter in Nahariya).

Also, a would-be suicide bomber was caught in Hod HaSharon placing residents in the Sharon region on high alert.
