The fierce battle raging in southern Lebanon between Israel Defense Forces and Hizballah terrorists continued on Wednesday in Bint Jbeil, where at least 20 Israeli soldiers have suffered severe casualties.
The wounded were airlifted from the battlefield under fire and evacuated to the trauma unit at the Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
IDF troops took control of the Hizballah stronghold, dubbed the “terrorist capital” on Tuesday, sealing it off and pushing guerilla forces deeper into Lebanon. According to military sources this has been the most difficult part of the fighting as soldiers have come face-to-face with terrorists.
The IDF recognized the terrorist infrastructure in the town when missile launchers were found in homes and in mosques. A high-ranking Hizballah official known as Al-Jafar was confirmed killed in an Israeli air force strike on Tuesday.
Israeli soldiers have killed more than 50 Hizballah gunmen and continue to target high-ranking terrorist officials.
Meanwhile, the Israeli air force is continuing operations in Beirut, destroying buildings believed to be the homes of Hizballah officials.
