Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke yesterday with British Prime Minister Tony Blair who called to get an update on the situation in Lebanon and the deployment of a multinational force there. Olmert told Blair that Israel would like to see an effective multinational force in Lebanon to be deployed along the international border with Israel, as well as in border crossings between Lebanon and Syria.

PM Olmert said that a ceasefire could be implemented immediately upon deployment of the force. At the end of the conversation, which was held in good spirits, the two agreed to be in close contact in the next few days.
