Iran supplying weapons to Hizballah as humanitarian aid

In a briefing before the Cabinet yesterday, head of the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Division, Major General Amos Yadlin, said that Iran is supplying Hizballah with weapons under the guise of innocent humanitarian aid convoys. In addition he reported that Israeli commandoes captured one of the terrorists who participated in the kidnapping of IDF soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser at the beginning of the war. He is now under interrogation in Israel.

Yadlin added that the Hizballah has never been hit so hard. “To lose 400 fighters out of a force of 1000 to 1500 is a major blow,” he said.

He added that instead of Nasrallah being seen in the Middle East as the savior of Lebanon, he is seen as the destroyer of Lebanon. “He has weakened both within Lebanon and as a regional leader. He began with a demand to release Palestinian prisoners, and now he is talking about releasing Lebanese prisoners. He has weakened also within the Hizballah organization and towards the Lebanese society, Hamas, and his Iranian patrons. Nasrallah is seen now as someone who is a liability rather than an asset,” said Eisenkot.
