International Red Cross President Dr. Jakob Kellenberger said life was going on as normal in Beirut, while the effects of war were more apparent in northern Israel and southern Lebanon.
Kellenberger said the beaches in Beirut are packed and businesses downtown are doing well, much like in Tel Aviv. Kellenberger toured several bomb shelters in the northern town of Nahariya, spoke with residents and heard about the crisis and difficulties of staying in bomb shelters.
He said it is difficult to see elderly and children on both sides suffering. He also heard a siren blare followed by rockets which landed not far from the delegation.
