Sigalia Hefetz, wife of Israel’s Ambassador to Britain Zvi Hefetz has personally initiated a fundraising drive among Jewish organizations and business people to donate back-to-school kits for children of northern Israel and of Sderot who are due to return to school at the beginning of September.

The kits include a backpack filled with all the equipment needed for school. “We are in the middle of a war that affects us all. These days it is important to emphasize the close and warm relationship we have with the Diaspora and Israel, particularly the north. Organizations and businesspeople in London have expressed their wishes to help and support the residents of the north. The special thing about this drive is the close connection with the families with the purpose of returning the smiles back to the children of the north and Sderot,” said Sigalia.

The cities which will receive these kits are Kiryat Shmona, Nahariya, Acre, Ma’alot-Tarshiha, Shlomi, Hatzor, Safed, M’rar, Arb el-Aramshe, Majdal Krum, settlements in the Mevoot Hermon, Ma’ale Yosef Regional Councils, and many others. The operation is logistically complex and its distribution will be in cooperation with the Fun Park and Mega.
