Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. General Dan Halutz said yesterday that the war in Lebanon did not end in a knockout, but was won by Israel in points.

In a security briefing during the weekly Cabinet meeting Halutz said that Israel killed 500 Hizballah terrorists and destroyed 10,000 Hizballah targets in Lebanon.

He mentioned that the ceasefire on Hizballah’s side is complete. “They are lowering their profile and are not walking around with weapons and uniforms. The deployment of the Lebanese army is going according to plan,” he said.

Halutz also said that the IDF will conduct a thorough inquiry of the reserve forces that participated in the war. “We have nothing to hide, from the Chief of Staff all the way down to the last soldier.”

According to Halutz, Israel has avoided contact with Hizballah, other than times where there is immediate danger to IDF soldiers.
