Monday, August 21, 2006 |  by Staff Writer
The government decided yesterday to give special compensation to all reservists who fought in Lebanon during the war. These soldiers include all those who were drafted by the emergency draft and those who volunteered for service.

The compensation will be given according to plans to be decided by the Defense Minister in coordination with the Prime Minister and Welfare Minister, and with the Treasury Minister. The plans will take into consideration the Military Service Law with attention to special populations including students, families, and others.

The Defense Minister will present a proposal for the Cabinet’s approval by the end of this month.

In addition, Peretz announced during the Cabinet meeting that the Israel Defense Forces will conduct welfare activities for the reserve units who fought during the war, as well as refresher sessions and inquiries from the battlefield.
