Governing systems collapsed during the war

Head of the Israeli General Security Services Yuval Diskin said in an internal GSS function that during the war, the governing systems in Israel had totally collapsed and that the public has realized that.

In his speech, first broadcast by Israel Channel Two news, Diskin joined the harsh criticism against the functioning of the government during the war in Lebanon, especially the way the residents of the north were treated.

“I think that it is especially important that people from inside the system, just like me, be the ones criticizing it,” he said. “This is not the time to cover up, and we need to tell the truth. Undoubtedly, the north was abandoned and somebody must give the answers and be accountable,” Diskin added.

Diskin concluded optimistically and said that the families of those killed and injured that he met cheered him up and gave him strength. He also praised “the steadfastness of the people and the population.”
