Syrian Ambassador to Sweden stormed out of the lecture hall as Israeli Knesset Members Gideon Saar (Likud) and Avshalom Vilan (Meretz) were speaking in front of a prestigious institute in Stockholm.

The incident took place as MKs Saar and Vilan, who are in Sweden on a public diplomacy trip, were speaking as the guests of the Swedish Institute for International Affairs, a prestigious think tank and an important opinion leader in Sweden.

Saar and Vilan spoke in front of an audience which included leading journalists, pundits, and ambassadors, including a large number from Arab countries.

As the MKs were about to take questions, the Syrian Ambassador suddenly stood up, ignored the two, turned around and began lecturing against Israel where he also complained that the hosts did not include any Arab speakers. The ambassador left the room angrily, followed by the Algerian Ambassador who also left in protest.
