Knesset Member Natan Sharansky of the Likud said today in response to a security briefing by the General Security Services chief that the security situation in Gaza is unequivocal and frightening and calls for immediate action.
The briefing by GSS head Yuval Diskin in front of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Knesset laid out the current security situation in Gaza. Diskin said in the briefing that “the terror groups in Gaza have learned the lessons of Lebanon and are arming themselves massively with rockets and missiles and are beginning to organize themselves as an army.”
In response Sharansky said that "Ten years I have been hearing security reports. I have never heard such an unequivocal and frightening report that calls for immediate action.”
He added that "Every kind of weapon, except for tanks and airplanes, are getting into the Gaza Strip through the Philadelphi Route, including terrorist experts who have been trained in Iran. Hamas is establishing a terrorist army in Gaza. Now it is no longer possible to say they didn't warn us.”
