The Russian authorities have cancelled at the last minute an exhibition that was due to open in the Tel Aviv Convention Center with 50 businesspeople and 30 Russian government executives which have already landed in Israel.
The cancellation notice came despite the $300,000 the Russian government has already invested in this exhibition, designed to further trade relations between the two countries.
The Russian Embassy said the exhibit was cancelled due to technical reasons, but the Israeli organizers are convinced it is a political issue regarding tensions between the two countries evolving around the war in Lebanon and Russian weaponry getting its way through Syria to Hizballah.
The cancellation has caused great embarrassment in the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv which was the chief sponsor of the event.
