Israel filed an official complaint to the Chinese government after an Israel Defense Forces investigation found that Chinese made missiles were fired at Israel by Hizballah during the war. Israel asked China to respect UN Resolution 1701 and to do all it can to prevent its weapons from getting to the hands of terrorists.
The missiles include some who fell in the north, and the missile fired at the Israeli Navy Ship Hanit that caused the death of four sailors.
Diplomatic officials in Israel say that it is clear that Hizballah did not get the missiles directly from China, but through a third part such as Syria or Iran. Foreign Minster Tzipi Livni raised the issue before the Chinese envoy to the Middle East and before the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasizing the need to tighten control over their weapons, and honoring the arms embargo on Hizballah.
Chinese officials say that the shipments are very old and it is very difficult to track down the route the weapons made on their way to Hizballah.
