Former President of Iran Mohammed Khatami attacked Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and said that he has caused formidable damage to Iran in the international arena.
Khatami said these words to Zionist Orthodox Rabbi Arthur Schneier in a meeting in New York. Schneier, who was born in Hungary and is a Holocaust survivor, is considered an associate to former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres and other Israeli leaders.
“I do not need all kinds of confirmations whether the Holocaust was or wasn’t. I am a Holocaust survivor myself and for me Ahmadinejad’s words are seven times worse,” Schneier told Khatami.
Khatami said he intends to address the issue of the Holocaust as a historical fact. He again expressed that Ahmadinejad has caused severe damage to his country, Iran, in the international arena especially in regard to relations with Germany.
“Ahmadinejad is losing his support from within Iran,” said the former Iranian president.
During his two week visit to the US, Khatami condemned terror and garnered support for a two-state solution with Israel and the Palestinians.
