IDF targets weapons smuggling tunnel

The Israel Defense Forces carried out an aerial attack in the Gaza Strip targeting a building in the city of Rafah, near the Philadelphi corridor, which was hiding the entrance to a weapons smuggling tunnel. The attack was based on specific intelligence information.

In order to ensure the safety of civilians in the area, prior to the attack on the terror facility the IDF warned the population not to remain in structures that are used by terrorist organization for storing weapons. Terrorist organizations operate from within the civilian population, while cynically exploiting uninvolved civilians and using them as human shields, exploiting their homes to store weapons and launching rockets at Israeli towns from populated areas.

The IDF will continue to act with determination against terrorist organizations and terror infrastructure in order to create the conditions for the return of Cpl. Gilad Shalit and to stop terror attacks and the launching of missiles towards Israel.
