Pascal Guillaume, International Billiards and Snooker Federation chairman, sent a letter to his Israeli counterpart saying that it would not be reasonable to have Israeli champion Roei Fernandez taking part in the championships going to take place in November in Amman, Jordan, because of the security situation in the region. “I personally believe that due to the local precarious situation and the present serious unrest that still exists between your country and Lebanon, the country of Jordan is certainly not the right place to guarantee the security of your player” Guillaume wrote to Israel Pinhas.
