The removal of the general closure that was imposed on Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip prior to the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, between September 29th and October 3rd, was lifted. In light of security assessments made by the political echelon the decision was made to lift the closure.
The Jewish holiday of Sukkot begins on Friday evening, October 6th and ends on October 14th with Simchat Torah and the Muslim holiday of Ramadan continues. The Israel Defense Forces regards the holiday period as a highly sensitive time, security-wise, and will therefore maintain its alertness to ensure the safety of the citizens of Israel, while preserving, to the best of its ability, the daily life of the Palestinian population.
