Sony Picture Studios announced that it will try to lift the spirits of Israeli children who endured the war in the north and will contribute money toward rebuilding the nation’s forests.

Sony said that Israel will be the only country, outside the United States, where it will premier their first animated movie “Open Season.” The premiere of the film will take place on October 5 in Haifa, Nahariya, and Tiberias where the children of the north can attend for free.

Yair Landau, head of the animation division at Sony Studios, told Israeli Consul General in Los Angeles Ehud Danoch that the studio wanted to do something to cheer up the children in northern Israel and decided to hold the premiere in Israel.

The movie “Open Season” was produced with a budget of $100 million and premiered in Los Angeles last week.

Sony has also donated $50,000 to the Jewish National Fund to reforest the northern forests which were burned and damaged during the war.
