Peretz: Troops need more training

Thursday, October 05, 2006 |  by Staff Writer

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said the army should significantly increase training exercises of both regular and reserve soldiers, establish standards of operational fitness and organize war reserve stores.

Peretz said the training should start immediately without waiting for the Winograd Commission, investigating the war, to finish its work and to submit its conclusions.

During a memorial ceremony for fallen soldiers of the Armored Corps in Latrun, Peretz said that these issues need immediate improvement in order to increase Israel's battle preparedness.
