Peres: Treat Ahmadinejad as Hitler

Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres said that there is a need to treat Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (photo) as the modern-day Hitler and present him to the world as such.

Peres said that he agrees with the words of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that Iran needs to be afraid and to know she is also under threat. “Whoever is threatening is also threatened. The threat is not Israeli and we are not entering the military issues, but the public must know who they are dealing with,” Peres said.

Peres also mentioned that he was shocked how Ahmadinejad was received in the United States. “He was brought to the American Foreign Affairs Institute with full respect. This is an outrage. There is a need to show the world his true face. This is the only person in the world calling for the annihilation of another people. This goes against the UN charter. It is inconceivable that this sort of thing will happen and we need to expose his real face, which is just like Hitler, to the world,” he said.

“Here we have a man with a dangerous personality, just like Hitler, who wants to build dangerous weapons. These kinds of threats we hear from Ahmadinejad have not been heard since Hitler,” Peres said, and added that there is a need to create a global coalition against Iran and to close the gaps between us and the rest of the Arab states, in a way which will allow them also to stand against Iran.
