The South of Israel represents a new opportunity for Jewish immigrants. Since the days of David Ben-Gurion the Negev inspired many passionate Zionists. The Negev desert covers about 60% of the country’s territory but only accounts for about 8% of the population.

Due to the efforts of immigrants from all over the world in recent years, it is enjoying increasing success. This region contains an inexhaustible potential for new immigrants.

Nefesh B'Nefesh, an organization that assists Jews from North America to immigrate to Israel, is promoting a “Go South" program. The goal of this program is to inform potential immigrants about the possibilities of life in the South of Israel.

For example, housing in the South of Israel is more affordable than in the area around Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Likewise, there are many job opportunities in the South of Israel. Moreover, by moving to the South immigrants can contribute to the “fertilizing” and development of this region.

The goal of the “Go South" program is to help new immigrants to more easily integrate into Israeli society. Various events, recreational activities and workshops are organized to assist them in their job search.

Since its foundation in 2012, the "Go South" program has been very successful. In recent months more than 800 families have decided to move to the South.
