Once upon a time, there lived a servant of the Most High God, called Noah. For most of his life, Noah had to put up with faithless people mocking, insulting and bullying him as he built an Ark at God's command. Then the Great Flood that Noah had prepared for in obedience for so many years, came upon the Earth, and the faithless were no more. After many days, Noah sent out a dove from the Ark, twice - when the bird returned with a freshly plucked olive branch in its mouth, Noah knew that the time of God's wrath and judgment was over.
Aliyah from Ethiopia is in the final stages. Operation Dove's Wings aims to bring the remainder of the Falash Mura (Ethiopians whose ancestors were forced to convert from Judaism to Christianity) to Israel by March 2014. Some of these people have been waiting in a refugee camp in the Gondar province of Ethiopia for up to 10 years.
Operation Dove's Wings represents the end of Jewish Aliyah from Ethiopia, the last members of an oppressed community. Israel is a beacon unto the world and all Jews can find a home here, but many struggle to integrate into Israeli society.
