The Land of Israel is a special, sacred place for those who believe in the Bible. Like the ingathering of the Jewish people into the land of Israel, the restoration of the land itself is the unfolding of prophecy.

When Israel’s restoration began, the land was largely barren. Today it is fully of lush green forests lovingly planted by the Jewish National Fund. There is still much work to do. What better way to participate in the restoration of the Land of Israel than by planting a tree.

Israeli soldiers planted trees on Tu Bishvat in order to protect residents who live under rocket fire every day. Help us replant the land.

In honor of Tu Bishvat, IDF soldiers planted 1,532 trees in the vicinity of Nahal Oz, on the Gazan border in southern Israel. The 1,532 trees signify the 1,532 rockets fired by Hamas terrorists at Israel from Gaza during Operation “Pillar of Defense.”

The trees were planted to provide shelter from direct gun fire aimed at Israeli residents from the Gaza Strip. The road around Nachal Oz has been the scene of several shooting incidents over the years, some of which have caused fires in the area.

Jewish National Fund World Chairman Effi Stezler  stated during the event: “We are planting these trees to provide protection for the civilian passengers on the roads, and to offer defense for the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. We believe that these trees, which have previously provided shelter in the Golan Heights from the Syrians years ago, will now protect the residents of southern Israel.”
