Soldiers Winter Package

Although the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as the name suggests, is primarily a defensive army, our soldiers place their lives at stake on a daily basis. Over time, almost every family has lost relatives in defense of the Promised Land.

Protection and preservation can come only from the Almighty but we can show our appreciation of the efforts of our soldiers and reservists. Let us show our men and women in uniform that we stand behind them, in prayer AND in deed! In the coming weeks, we are planning to distribute Winter Packages for 'our children' - our soldiers! (The majority of IDF soldiers are young men and women just out of school.)

This Winter, our lovingly-prepared Package contains the following items:

  • A Sweat Shirt
  • A Chamtzavar - a multifunctional apple-warmer that can also be used as a hat
  • Warm Socks - to keep the soldiers' feet toasty!
  • Shoe Deodorant
  • Regenerating Hand Cream
  • Medical Lip Balm

Give your gift today for a Soldiers Winter Package, and let the forces know that there are very special people who care, and appreciate their sacrifice and their duty.

IDF Soldiers Ordered to Show Respect and Understanding During Ramadan

Posted on 7/14/2013 by in idf soldiers Israel Today Israel Defense Forces Support

The Muslim holy month of fasting, Ramadan, commenced last Wednesday at the sighting of the moon, heralding a number of Israeli Defense Force concessions for Palestinians living in the West Bank.

Access to the Temple Mount for prayer purposes will be given to all West Bank Palestinians over the age of 35. Operating hours of crossings will be extended as necessary. The IDF has asked all soldiers to “demonstrate a high level of respect and understanding,” and also not to eat, drink or smoke in places where Palestinians will be in transit.

For the celebration of Id el-Fitr that marks the end of Ramadan, Palestinian women of all ages, and men over the age of 40, may enter Israel for Friday prayers without a permit check. According to the IDF, all Palestinians over the age of 65 will be able to enter into Israel at this time.

A peaceful Palestinian presence inside of Israel is the aspiration of many; therefore, hard work by Israel's troops is necessary to make this a reality during Ramadan. Let us all follow the example of Syria's warring factions in calling a truce at this time, that everyone may truly experience a holy month.

Ramadan means extra duty for many soldiers in the IDF. Israel Today offers readers the chance to encourage the troops with a summer care package. Click here * AND all summer, Israel Today will take part by matching each donation to double the blessing!
