For Nachman and his wife Esther, raising their family is anything but normal. Their "family" consists of their own 2 little kids who also have 10 older siblings. Nachman & Esther are the "father & mother" of a family unit at Beit HaYeled on the outskirts of Gilo, a southern neighborhood of Jerusalem.

One of the communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip that came under regular fire from Hamas, in the months leading up to and during Operation Protective Edge, was kibbutz Kfar Azza. The kibbutz is situated opposite Gaza City and the Shuja'iyya neighbourhood which housed a vast arsenal of weapons including masses of rockets and mortars which were launched at Israel during the conflagration.

The beginning of the school year: Relief and concern

Often children are reluctant to finish their summer holidays because for many of them the beginning of the school year means getting back into a routine: getting up early, learning in classrooms and doing homework daily. This year in Israel everything is a little different: the kids were actually longing for a daily routine.
