Hope, Strength and Joy

What a joy to grow up in a big family! Children are a great blessing, each one a gift from God. Good health is also a blessing but in this fallen world, it is not something that can be taken for granted. Some of Israel's young people are already heroes at a tender age, fighting for life in the battle against illness.

Twenty-one children of Israel, Jews, Muslims and Christians, specially selected by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, recently met with President Shimon Peres and his guest, the very famous singer, Barbra Streisand, in Jerusalem. These children are between the ages of two-and-a-half and eighteen, and all with life-threatening medical conditions. The Foundation has been active in Israel for 17 years and aims to bring hope, strength and joy to youngsters suffering ill health, through granting them a big wish - in this instance, meeting the equally legendary Shimon and Barbra!

As an Israel Today reader, you can also bring hope, strength and joy to Israel's children by helping to meet essential needs - for food, clothing and medical care, to name just a few. Your contribution of $15 can help to provide these basics. Click here
