Israel actively loves her children! Israel is one of the few countries in the world continuously working to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all young people - how wonderful to see youngsters playing together in the parks without a care, their shouts and laughter filling the air on hot summer nights - or taking buses on their own to and from school and activities.
Summer vacations are packed full of interesting and exciting activities for Israel's children: summer camps focus on sports, field trips, visits to amusement parks, computer training and Israel studies, among other things. Many centers also offer day camps for young artists, musicians, dancers, crafts enthusiasts, future chefs, nature lovers and many more. Year-round opportunities for family outings in Israel abound; the Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem, flower-watching in the Negev, the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Mini-Israel, even ice-skating near Luna Park in Tel Aviv, to name just a few!
A sad reality is that tens of thousands of Israeli children have families without financial means to pay for these activities. This year, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is sponsoring summer camps in 50 different communities across the country, for children from low-income families to enjoy. However, due to limited available funding, only 10,000 children from Jewish communities and about 3,000 children from the Arab sector will be able to participate in the summer program.
As an Israel Today reader, you can help some of these struggling families to make ends meet. Your gift will help them provide for their children, who are the future of Israel.
And all this summer, Israel Today will match your donation, providing a 'double blessing' to those who need it most.
