Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Psalms 127:3

In a few weeks Israel will be celebrating the joyous holiday of Purim. One of the main activities of this celebration is the sending of Mishloach Manot (Gift Baskets) from family to family. This holiday is one that is especially memorable for children. They will dress up in costume and participate in street parades.

Unfortunately, there are many children whose parents cannot afford to involve their children in this festive time as a result of their economic circumstances. Many children rely on basic nourishment at after school centers, where they congregate in the afternoons.

Israel Today has been committed for many years to ensuring a quality life for all Israeli children. This year, as in previous years, we will be concentrating our efforts to help children from needy families to enable them to enjoy this time of the year.

Through the generosity of our subscribers and readers of the magazine, Israel Today will be able to:

  • provide Mishloach Manot to needy families
  • support underprivileged children, for example, by providing meals and financing extra-mural activities

Below is a letter of thanks from Be'ad Chaim, Israel Prolife. In December we were able to present them a gift of support on your (our readers) behalf.

Dear faithful team at Israel Today.

I want to tell you how deeply grateful I am for for your very generous donation of NIS 25000. It brought tears to my eyes to know that you stand with us in our passion to save the lives of Israeli babies from abortion.

In an age when abortion is considered "normal", just an easy way to end an unwanted pregnancy, it is deeply touching to know that you care about the unborn children and their mothers in crisis. Recent news has reported that over 40,000 abortions occur annually in Israel, meaning that the life of every fifth baby is stubbed out through abortion.

Many mothers and fathers choose abortion because of financial considerations. At Be'ad Chaim, we believe that counselling and good will are important but not sufficient without additional practical help.

Through your generosity, we are able to amply supply women with their baby's needs for a full year. Our Operation Moses project provides a mother with bed, stroller, bath, monthly diapers, and other vital items.

Perhaps the best way to thank you is to share with you the words of a 17 year old high school student who decided to continue her pregnancy and whose son, Immanuel, is celebrating his first birthday this month. "Despite the difficulties, Immanuel is my whole world."

We have a poster in our office" "To the world, this child may be just one more person. But to one person, this child is the world." Thank you, through your love and generosity, for helping change the world for this mother and many others like her.

With deep gratitude and wishing you many blessings
