What time is it? It's summer time! Israel's children look forward all year to the long vacation. There is no shortage of sunshine, and so many activities to choose from. First of all, there is every parent's favorite: summer school! Then, there are week-long nature camps, and day camps featuring a plethora of hobbies and crafts.
Reducing child allotments was the topic of furious debate in the Knesset last Sunday. The end-of-year Financial Budget is on the table and proposes a blanket reduction of monthly child support from NIS175 to NIS140 (about $37 US). All parents receive this child support grant through the National Insurance Institute of Israel, for children under the age of 18.
What a joy to grow up in a big family! Children are a great blessing, each one a gift from God. Some of Israel's young people are already heroes at a tender age, fighting for life in the battle against illness.
