Despite Warning of 'Missionaries,' Thousands Attend Parade
A rabbinical warning that thousands of Christians in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles had really come to steal Jewish souls was ignored or scorned by the vast majority of Israelis.

Joshua and Betty Weinberg stood near the end of the parade route shaking the hands of the Christians during the Jerusalem March to thank them for supporting Israel.

“We’re being goodwill ambassadors,” Betty told Israel Today. “We feel we need to thank them for coming. All of the bad press that went out—we’re really disgusted by it.”

The Weinbergs were referring to a ruling by the Chief Rabbinate banning Jewish participation in the parade because of the 5,000 Christian supporters of Israel who marched in it. The rabbis warned Jews to beware of “missionary activity” by the 7,000 Christian pilgrims who came to Israel for the Feast of Tabernacles.
