Hooters to open in Tel Aviv
Hooters, the popular US restaurant chain known primarily for its waitresses, is opening its first branch in Tel Aviv this summer.

Hooters of America, Inc. announced on Monday a franchise agreement with Israelis Ilana and Ofer Ahiraz.

A final location has not been confirmed, but the partners believe it will be somewhere in the greater Tel Aviv area.

Ahiraz believes Hooters would survive, following the failure of Hard Rock Café and Planet Hollywood, because Hooters plans on opening a chain of restaurants, hopefully also in Jerusalem, Eilat and Haifa.

“I don't think there will be a backlash against the restaurant,” Ahiraz said.

In the US women’s groups say the Hooters tight and low-cut uniforms are degrading to women.

Hooters also has 23 successful franchises internationally, including in China, Australia, Switzerland and Brazil and branches are to open soon in Colombia, Dubai, Guam, New Zealand and India.

“International expansion is a major focus for our company and we are very happy to add Israel to our family,” Hooters executive vice president of franchise operations John Weber said. “The vibrant, fun-loving Israeli community suits the all-American, casual-dining theme that Hooters restaurants are known for. I am positive that the Israeli's quest for great food and atmosphere will end at Hooters.”
