Israeli professor killed in Virginia Tech Massacre
In the deadliest shooting rampage in US history, it was reported on Tuesday that an Israeli, Professor Liviu Libresc, was among the 32 people massacred on Monday at Virginia Tech College.

The 77-year-old victim was a senior professor of mechanics and engineering at the college.

The victims were killed in a matter of two hours before the university realized what had happened and could warn students. The bloodbath ended when the gunman committed suicide making the death total 33.

One of Prof Librescu's students, Alec Calhoun, who was with him in the classroom when the shooting started, told The Associated Press he heard “a thunderous sound from the classroom next door, what sounded like an enormous hammer.”

When students realized what happened they did all they could to evacuate the classroom, including jumping out of the windows on the second floor. Librescu stayed behind to block the door.

“Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions,” Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said. “The university is shocked and indeed horrified.”

Librescu’s wife, Marlina, and two sons, Arieh and Joe, have already begun making arrangements for his burial in Israel. It was only an hour earlier that Marlina had driven her husband to work, not knowing it would be her last time.

Professor Librescu and his wife, who are both Holocaust survivors, immigrated to Israel from Romania in 1978, where he was an accomplished scientist. When the Communist regime had attempted to prevent the Librescu’s from moving to Israel, it was only when the Israeli prime minister at the time, Menachem Begin, appealed to President Nicolae Ceausescu on their behalf that they were allowed to leave. A number of years later Professor Librescu went to the United States on a sabbatical and remained there since.

1 .  A True Hero

Although the article doesn''t make it clear this courageous man put the lives of his students ahead of his own and blocked the door while students exited the classroom to safety. The scriptures say that there is NO GREATER LOVE THAN THIS.....

Prof. Librescu is a true hero, and I can only imagine that great is his reward. In the midst of yet another horrific American gun disater, and while all the focus is upon the corrupt mind of a lunatic killer, it gives us even a small faith in mankind to hear of this selfless, and heroic act of the professor.

May G-d bless him, and uplift his family as they work their way through this tragic loss.

8 .  Killing of Israeli professor
How Prophetic, an elderly Shoa survivor and outstanding Israeli professor gives his own life trying to bar the door to a madman and save the lives of Gentiles. When will the world and especially the worldwide church wake up to the present threat to Israel as being a threat to all of us? Lord Yeshua pour out Your Spirit on us to help us pray like never before.

9 .  Pain and Suffering
Suffering ends when you stop thinking of it as suffering. If you train yourself to rejoice in suffering, if you think that everything is done by G-d for one''s own betterment and uplift, if you welcome pain as a messenger of God to make you remember Him... then pain will not be pain anymore. Suffering will not be suffering anymore.

What an amazing act of love in a time when most felt only fear, confusion and the need for self-preservation. This man is what a true hero looks like.

13 .  A Day of Sorrow
It is true there is no greater love than the love that prompts one to disregard his on life to protect others. Call it heroic, brave, whatever, but it is always love.
Acts of terror, hate, rage, evil, whatever it is that causes one to kill others simply because they live, will never make any sense to people who respect life. I am so sorry for those who lost lives, and loved ones in the Holocaust, and this awful hour at Va Tech. But remember, God never changes, his WORD lives, and one day, HE will bring justice and vengeance on those who hate and kill .
My prayers are for all the families and loved ones of this awful day of evil .
