Hizballah: Israel could have beaten us

An unnamed Hizballah field commander said in an interview aired on Israel's Channel 10 News on Tuesday that the Lebanese terror group would have surrendered if last summer's Second Lebanon War had lasted another 10 days.

“The [UN-imposed] cease-fire acted as a life jacket for the organization,” said the officer.

He explained that Hizballah forces in southern Lebanon were running dangerously low on food, water, weapons and ammunition toward the end of the war, and were rapidly nearing the end of their ability to engage the Israelis in combat.

The revelation that the international community saved the group gave the lie to Hizballah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah's repeated declarations that the war's outcome was a “divine victory” over Israel.
