Anti-Semitic attacks reported in northern Israel

The dwindling Jewish population of a low-class neighborhood in the northern Israel port city of Haifa says it is the target of increasing anti-Semitic attacks by the Arabs buying up property there.

Jewish families living in Haifa's Hadar neighborhood told visiting right-wing lawmakers that they are regularly subjected to taunts, threats and physical abuse by local Arabs, reported Israel National News.

Haifa is a mixed Jewish-Arab city, but the Hadar neighborhood used to be primarily populated by Jews. As more Arab families began moving in and behaving in a hostile manner, their Jewish neighbors began moving out.

One of the visiting Knesset members, Uri Ariel of the National Union Party, said he is looking to reverse the situation by encouraging more young Jewish families to move to Haifa and other mixed cities around the country.
