Ariel Sharon still brain dead

Doctors at the Sheba Medical Center in central Israel on Sunday said there has been no change in the condition of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who has been in a coma since suffering a major stroke nearly two years ago.

After meeting with medical staff, former Sharon aide and close family friend Raanan Gissin told reporters that doctors have been unable to detect any brain wave activity in the fallen leader. Nevertheless, Gissin said the Sharon family refuses to have him disconnected from a feeding tube and respirator in hopes that he will still make a full recovery.

In addition to the machines keeping him alive, Sharon has undergone three brain operations, abdominal surgery and three minor surgical procedures to stabilize his condition.
