'Moderate' Palestinians still look to Israel's destruction

A television station controlled by "moderate" Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' ruling Fatah movement has for the past week been repeatedly broadcasting a video propaganda clip promising the eventual destruction of Israel and its replacement with an Arab Muslim state.

Accompanied by emotional music, the video lists numerous Jewish towns inside sovereign Israel, promising that they will soon be "liberated" because their true identity is and always will be "Palestinian."

The clip is a serious departure from the declarations of peace and reconciliation Abbas and his regime have been issuing in English ahead of a US-hosted peace summit expected to take place next month. During that meeting, Abbas hopes to secure Israel's surrender of the entire West Bank (biblical Judea and Samaria).

Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) noted that "while the Palestinian Authority announces in English its demand for a two-state solution, to its own people in Arabic it continues to define all of Israel as 'Palestine,' and to promise Israel's destruction."

PMW was responsible for translating the hostile clip that has been featuring prominently on Palestinian television.
