Alternative Israeli summit calls for 'Jewish sovereignty'

While the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert meets later this month in Annapolis, Maryland with the leadership of the Palestinian Authority over surrendering more land to the latter, right-wing Israeli organizations and movements will hold an alternative summit in Jerusalem declaring full Jewish sovereignty over all the Land of Israel.

Susie Dym, a spokesperson for the initiative, told Israel National News that such a step is being taken because "our political leadership has abandoned the goal of furthering the Jewish people in the Jewish state, and has gone towards the goal of building a Palestinian state and advancing the Palestinians' interests."

A statement released by the organizations behind what will be known as the New Jewish Congress lamented that holding the summit had become a necessity due to the fact that those loyal to the Jewish ethos no longer had a national representative body.

The summit is scheduled for November 27, the day Washington is expected to open the latest round of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It will be used to launch the New Jewish Congress, which organizers hope will then go on to become a rallying point for the majority of Israelis who have not given up on the Zionist dream.

"Our door is open to all those who want to further the interests of the Jewish people," said Dym.
