A team of Israeli doctors is currently teaching health care officials in the southern African kingdom of Swaziland how to circumcise males of all ages as a preventive measure against the AIDS epidemic ravaging that nation.

Some 40 percent of Swaziland's one million inhabitants have contracted AIDS. In a series of tests conducted earlier this year, Israeli researchers showed that the remaining uninfected sectors of the population could reduce their chances of infection by up to 60 percent through circumcision.

Israeli doctors participating in the program told Ynet that they hope Swaziland will serve as an example and model for the rest of Africa, and said Israel is standing by to provide assistance in this field to any African nation that requests it.
