Thousands of Israelis took to the streets of downtown Jerusalem Monday evening to protest Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's participation in a US-hosted Middle East peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland, where the Israeli leader intends to offer up the nation's biblical heartland in exchange for the hope of "peace" with its Arab neighbors.

The demonstration began at the Western Wall, where, according to Israel National News, 25,000 Israelis petitioned the Almighty to keep His promises to their nation and prevent the re-division of the land and the city of Jerusalem.

The protesters then marched a couple of miles to the prime minister's official residence on Paris Square to send a message to Olmert that he does not possess a mandate to surrender on their behalf.

Olmert met with US President George W. Bush on Monday evening ahead of the 24-hour summit that will be attended by Israel and dozens of Gentile nations opposed to its existence. The participants, including the United States, unanimously agree that Israel must hand over the biblical hill country of Judea and Samaria for the creation of yet another Arab Muslim state for peace to be possible in the region and the world.
